Anthology of Shadows

Hey, remember how I planned on rewriting Shadows See All?

Well I'm still kind of doing that, but also assembling the content of all of my other blogs into a bit of an anthology. Oh, but don't worry, the content is fresh and the storylines are revised.

That doesn't mean that I won't be finishing my current blogs, however. They'll still stay true to thewir original drafts, while this one will be the "canon" story that is a prequel to Lost Souls. Think of it as a way to see how my writing's improved when compared to the blogs.

It will also be presented in the traditional third person omniscient fiction format.

So without further ado, let's step into the tale and learn about the family that doomed humanity.

Ladies and gentlemen, the Anthology of Shadows.

OOC: Rewrite, bitches.

I've said it before and I'll say it again.

Seriously, it started off as an attempt to make my mark on the Slenderman Mythos. Then, I moved on to the Fear Mythos.

This would've been perfectly fine if I had ANY IDEA WHAT THE FEAR MYTHOS WAS ABOUT.

So I went and made my own "Fears". Specifically Deimos. And then when I got into the Fear mythos proper, I passed him off as an extension of the Unnamed Child.

I'm not even gonna lie. A year ago, I was probably one of the worst authors in existence. But I've improved. The final post on here, combined with my new, descriptive writing style shows that. But every time I look back and see my old posts, I'm filled with shame.

So, I'll do the rational thing.

That's the coward's way out. No, I'm gonna go back and rewrite this whole goddamn thing.

...Actually that's a lie. I deleted more than half of it. As for what I'm changing, some things will have changed greatly, others will mostly be left alone.

What I mean is this; I'm going to rewrite this blog from the January 2012 posts onward the way it should've been from the the beginning.

A prologue to something very, very big.

My magnum opus of the Fear mythos.

Origins: The Phobos Effect

Ezekiel Shepard, born to Elijah and Annabelle Shepard in the city of Thunder Bay, Ontario. Being of Irish-Canadian descent, the entire Shepard Family was heavily Catholic. This changed upon the disappearance of Zeke however. Annabelle, unable to handle the stress, committed suicide. Elijah, distraught at his son's disappearance and wife's suicide, joined the military. This left Zeke's brother Jack to be sent through foster care, and caused him too to have a crisis of faith.

Ironically enough, the disappearance was partially due to Jack's actions.

One day, having followed Jack into the forest behind their home, Zeke came face to face with the Slender Man. Zeke, paralyzed with fear, stood staring directly into the blank face of the Thin White Duke. The Slender Man took this as an offensive gesture and impaled him upon a tree branch. Bleeding out at an alarming rate, Zeke began to cry. He screamed for Jack to help him, screamed for anyone... But he received no answer. Finally, seconds before he faded into unconsciousness, Zeke saw his saviour; The Blind Man.

When he awoke, he saw a hooded figure standing at the foot of his bed. Standing next to him was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. The two entities revealed themselves to be Deimos and Diesis, the Extension Fears of the Unnamed Child and Blind Man respectively. They then informed him that he had been in a coma for over a month... And told him what had happened to his family as a result. Saddened, Zeke asked what he could possibly do now. Diesis responded by telling him that she would gladly welcome him into her "Knights of the Eternal" and treat him as though he were her own son. He immediately accepted.

Being a mere ten years old, Zeke was assigned to simple jobs such as deliveries and danger-free infiltrations. Amused by his personality, Deimos nicknamed him "Phobos" and began to treat him like a younger brother. And then came the day that Diesis and Deimos forged an alliance with one another. This led to Deimos' few willing followers being integrated into the ranks of the Knights of the Eternal. One such follower was Abel Parker, who would soon grow to be Zeke's greatest friend and ally.

Life serving the Extension Fears continued as normal for seven years, until Diesis began to hear rumors of an ex-proxy gathering an army to fight his master with.

Curious, she sent in Zeke to infiltrate and observe.

And observe he did. The alleged ex-proxy, who went by the name of Nathan Umbra, inspired Zeke. He seemed to show that even if one lived a terrible life under a Fear, they could redeem themselves. They could become a hero.

Or so it seemed.

The night before Zeke was going to return to Diesis, Nathan enacted his final solution. Gathering the hundreds of followers he had gained, he had his master force them all into the Path of Black Leaves. All but one.

It was at this point that Nathan showed his true colors. The person who had looked up to him... Idolized him... He had tied to a concrete slab and tortured for weeks. Zeke had opened himself up emotionally, and Nathan used this fact to break him. He built Zeke up, if only to knock him down that much harder. Even harder on Zeke's mind was that Diesis never attempted rescue, furthering his sense of hopelessness. Finally, on Christmas Eve, Zeke managed to break his restraints and escape.

But not before Nathan tortured the location of Diesis' mansion out of him.

Willing and Abel.

DATE OF BIRTH: 10/01/94
HEIGHT: 5'11
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Tall. Most don't realize this for a few months because he's usually bent over or absent. Has long arms, great for reaching things. His eyesight is poor (see Negative Traits). Average height hair. Lankier build than most in his arms, but average build in the rest of his body. Constant smile.
PSYCHIATRIC DESCRIPTION: Crazy. However, when frightened for others or himself, he becomes highly tactical. His thoughts, although crazy, are all connected by thin veils of thought which require extreme studies to be understood. In addition, he needs to always be a Fear's servant, as he has been one since he was born, and reacts violently if not under a Fear.
POSITIVE TRAITS: Abel cares for all of those who he is constant contact with, and can't bear to see them hurt. He has First-Aid training, which comes in useful when battling Fears without access to a doctor. Surprisingly good at using a scythe, but never has one in his possession due to his sonic screwdriver (see Negative Traits). Good at running away from things, if needed. Can play the air violin which extreme grace. Has the tendency to bring unnecessary items which become useful later on. Skilled in long-range combat, if supplied the opportunity.
NEGATIVE TRAITS: Wears high tops which frequently have loose laces (he holds up people around him when running). Believes that his "sonic screwdriver" has actual power and refuses to use other weapons. Needs corrective lenses to see. His lung capacity is good, meaning that he can talk for hours on end only taking a few breaths. He has a tendency to have random outbursts of, well, randomness, which can cause his brain to move faster than his mouth, resulting in a speech impediment (a stutter).

Above: Abel was in Europe once on a stealth mission
Above: Why do people allow him to exist?

Abel "Achilles" Parker.
Servant of The Unnamed Child's Extension Fear, Deimos.
Best friend and eternal companion to Ezekiel Shepard.
Pain and sorrow await you in the future.
In these days, love will be what keeps you from harm.
A love you are blind to.

No Flock for the Shepard

DATE OF BIRTH: 19/03/94
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Hair extends down to subject's nose. Hair is also generally messy and unkempt. Subject has stubble in a "van dyke" facial hair style. Subject is moderately muscular, and as such excels in hand-to-hand combat (see "Positive traits" below").
PSYCHIATRIC DESCRIPTION: Subject was, until November-December of 2011, kind, trusting and (mostly) pacifistic. After extensive torture from "Nathan Umbra" however, subject has become angry, cynical and untrusting. Seems to have a major moral issue with the concept of innocents being harmed.
POSITIVE TRAITS: Excels at hand to hand combat and combat with pistol-grip weaponry. Minor medical training. Friendly should you prove yourself trustworthy. Cares deeply for "Abel Parker" to the point of risking his own life to protect him. Moderately muscular. Would not harm an innocent even if his life depended on it.
NEGATIVE TRAITS: Smoker of "Colt" cigars. Headstrong. Unable/unwilling to use scoped weapons (may have something to do with the crescent shaped scar above his eye) with rifle grips. Has trust issues. Any collateral damage to civilian population will send subject into an enraged state, with the likely result being the death of the (generally human) being responsible, regardless of whom it may be (Abel Parker- Possible exception?). Has major issues with trusting people.

                                                      ABOVE: Odysseus, Phobos and Nyx.

Ezekiel "Phobos" Shepard.
Servant of The Blind Man's Extension Fear, Diesis.
